About this document

Scope and purpose

The Release Notes contain an overview of the current and previous versions of InfineonSpice including changes, improvements and bug-fixes.

Intended audience

The intended audience for this document are users of InfineonSpice who want to be informed about the feature sets and changes for different versions of the software.

Product information

InfineonSpice is a full-fledged analog circuit simulator. It is a standalone, Windows-based software for comprehensive circuit design and visualization.

With its focus on ease of use and intuitiveness, it displays a welcome page when it starts, with tips to get started and quick access to the most important parts of the documentation.

A comprehensive list of basic and Infineon components such as product models are provided directly in the tool, ready for use in your designs. It is easy to import additional components from other sources that can be integrated in simulations with full support for the capabilities and performance of InfineonSpice.

Setting up and evaluating simulations is supported by easily accessible and transparent help and output features. Simulations are managed in self-contained projects, which makes it convenient to collaborate on and share designs. In addition, Infineon provides a constantly growing number of virtual reference designs for many applications via the tool.

You can use it both if you have never worked with InfineonSpice and if you are an experienced user. It assumes that you are familiar with designing and testing analog circuits and simulating them with SPICE. If you require more information about either topic, please consult appropriate documentation.

Description of releases

Here the features and changes are listed for each version - starting with the latest.

Version 2025.04

This release introduces new modeling capabilities, UI and robustness enhancements, and targeted bug fixes. It also includes a behavior change related to AC analysis and the DDT operator to ensure correct and predictable results. A known limitation around AC plotting workflows is noted below.

Features

  • MOSFET model support:
    • Added support for MOSFET model Level 7.
  • SCOPE data export:
    • Added a setting to export simulation results in SCOPE format for data exchange with third-party applications that support it.
Note: SCOPE is not supported by WaveformViewer and is not used within our own applications.
  • Library model validation:
    • Components with missing or incompatible model definitions in the library are now visually highlighted.
  • NC element:
    • Introduced an NC (No Connect) schematic element to explicitly mark intentionally unconnected pins.

Enhancements

  • Numerical robustness:
    • Improved numerical stability to reduce potential convergence issues.
  • UI refinements:
    • Minor interface cleanups, including removal of unnecessary elements.
  • Waveform zoom controls:
    • Added two buttons for faster navigation:
      • Zoom All: Fits the Y-axis of the current plot (per-plot scope).
      • Zoom All: Fits the X-axis across the entire plot group that shares the same X-axis (per-plot-group scope).
  • Documentation:
    • Expanded and updated the documentation set.
  • Log plots with zeros:
    • Improved handling of logarithmic plots that include zero values.

Bug Fixes

  • Netlist processing:
    • Fixed a potential buffer overflow when handling very long netlist records (line wrapping).
  • Export stability:
    • Fixed a potential crash during export.
  • Plot Setup currents:
    • Currents selected as outputs in Plot Setup now display correctly in WaveformViewer after simulation.
  • Expression editing:
    • Resolved a selection issue when editing expressions in the Simulation Environment.
  • Differential probes:
    • Differential probes now work with AC modifiers in Plot Setup.
  • UI dialog stability:
    • Fixed an issue where parts of the Properties of Container dialog could disappear.

Behavior Changes

DDT operator with AC analysis: The simulator now emits an error if the DDT operator is used in a behavioral device during AC analysis. This prevents potentially misleading results. Models or netlists that previously ran may now fail fast and require adjustment for AC analysis.

Version 2025.03

The list below contains the features, enhancements and Bug Fixes which are new in this product release.

Features

  • Plots can be moved to another group of plots that share the same axis
  • S-parameter file support is enabled via Additional Netlist Commands (no GUI flow)
  • PWL sources include a file subtype that allows sourcing characteristics from a given file
  • A new "Ask the Community" link is available under the Help menu
  • Support of AC Analysis setup
  • Resistor models support the "T_ABS" parameter
  • Files with extensions “.spi,” “.tit,” and “.cir” are interpreted as libraries
  • A Lossless Transmission Line component has been added to Basic Components

Enhancements

  • The Download Manager's content-loading performance has been significantly improved
  • The user interface visually indicates when the "Snap-to-Grid" feature is disabled
  • The size of plots in the Waveform Viewer has been adjusted for better usability
  • Input validation prevents improper entries for additional model libraries in Simulation Setup
  • The file size of SVG schematic exports has been significantly reduced
  • Renaming is now possible for opened files in the Design Environment
  • Buttons in the Simulation Environment are disabled when the corresponding action is unavailable
  • Anti-aliasing has been introduced for Waveform Viewer plots to improve visual clarity
  • Newly introduced parameters in the Simulation Environment receive a unique name automatically
  • The "Stop Simulation" button has been replaced with a more prominent option
  • Drag-and-drop functionality initiates a copy when objects are moved to another project, where applicable
  • The robustness of the TITAN simulation engine has been improved for high-power applications
  • Exporting to network drives is supported
  • Upon import, a new project name is proposed based on the imported file’s name
  • Minor user interface enhancements have been implemented

Bug Fixes

  • Crash occurring when removing a project while its Waveform Viewer remains open
  • Issue in the Waveform Viewer where horizontal scrolling with the mouse wheel was not possible
  • Incorrect syntax highlighting in library files
  • Text cut-off issue in the Symbol Generation Options dialog
  • Crash that occasionally appeared when moving devices within a schematic
  • Incorrect node permutations for Voltage-Controlled Switches
  • Issue with the "Zoom All" feature for logarithmic axis presentations in the Waveform Viewer
